INTRODUCTION TO DRUMS

Quick Take-Over
After a few years of piano, Jon was anxious to learn even more. He was quickly introduced to percussion.  He immediately fell in love and decided to put more of his focus into drumming.

OHIO BOUND

Change of Scenery
Once Jon and his family moved to Central Ohio, he decided to join every music ensemble possible in the search for new friends.

HIGHSCHOOL

Marching Band is Cool

Jon attended Upper Arlington HS.  While there, he was a member of the jazz band, symphonic band, and orchestra.  This was also Jon's first introduction into the world of marching band, which quickly became another passion for him.

2002-2006

COLLEGE

Work hard. Play hard.

Jon majored in Jazz Studies with Drumset Emphasis at Bowling Green State University.  During his time in college, he was a member of collegiate ensembles such as Jazz Lab Band, Jazz Combos, BGSU Athletic Band, Studio Percussion Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble.  Continuing his passion for the marching arts, he joined the BGSU Falcon Marching Band. Jon spent 4 years on snare drum with the ensemble, being awarded the Percussion Section Leader position in his last year. He also played quite a bit outside of the university.  Besides performing regularly with local cover bands, he was also was a member of the world renowned marching percussion ensemble, Rhythm X, in 2004 and 2006. As an Independent World Class group, they recevied the bronze (2004) and silver (2006) medals at the WGI World Championships.  In his free time, Jon spent his time teaching marching percussion and drum set lessons at several local high schools and shops in the Northwest Ohio area.
